Babies & Children

Babies and children respond especially sensitively to mindful touch
and gentle therapeutic approaches.

In my practice, I work with selected methods from traditional Japanese body therapy.
These support babies and children in returning to their natural balance.

Methods include:

  • Baby Shiatsu

  • Pediatric Tuina Anmo

  • Shonishin

  • Samurai Shiatsu

  • Baby massage for parents

All treatments are individually adapted
to the age and specific needs of each child.

Baby Shiatsu

Gentle support for your baby's development.

Baby Shiatsu is a gentle Japanese body therapy based on the principles of Japanese meridian theory.

Through mindful touch, gentle pressure and rhythmic movements along the meridians, the autonomic nervous system is calmed and the baby's natural self-regulation is supported.

Baby Shiatsu can help with, among other things:

  • Restlessness and crying babies

  • Abdominal pain, bloating and colic

  • Sleep problems

  • Digestive problems

  • Postnatal tension (e.g., after a cesarean section or difficult birth)

Gentle Chinese Massage for Children

Pediatric Tuina Anmo is a specialised form of traditional Chinese massage tailored specifically to the needs of children.

Using gentle techniques such as pushing, rubbing and pressing, specific energy points are stimulated to harmonise the body’s energy flow and support the natural self-healing processes.

What is Shonishin?

Shonishin is a particularly gentle form of Japanese pediatric acupuncture.

No needles are used. Instead, specialised instruments are applied to softly stroke or tap the skin.

This traditional method has long been used in Japan to support the health and well-being of babies and children.

Shonishin may support with:

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Digestive issues

  • Allergies and skin conditions

  • Asthma and respiratory conditions

Baby massage for parents

IMG_4031.jpg

In my courses, parents learn a simple and loving baby massage that they can use at home.

Mindful touch strengthens the bond between parents and baby, promotes relaxation and supports healthy development.

Mindful Bodywork for Children

Samurai Shiatsu is a playful and mindful form of Japanese bodywork for children.

Through simple touch-based exercises along the meridians, children learn techniques they can apply independently – either with each other or on themselves. Sessions are usually held in pairs or small groups.

I guide the exercises and demonstrate the movements, while the children practise them together. This creates a respectful and attentive space where children learn to become aware of their own body and the bodies of others.

Samurai Shiatsu may support children with:

  • Inner restlessness

  • School-related stress

  • Difficulties with concentration

  • Physical tension

  • Social skills and empathy

Suitable for

Children aged 4 to 12 – especially in cases of restlessness, school stress, ADHD, sleep difficulties, or simply to support healthy development.

What does research say?

Studies from Germany and Austria indicate that children who regularly experience Samurai Shiatsu show improved balance, better concentration and enhanced body awareness. Teachers also report more calmness and improved social interaction in the classroom.

I also integrate these elements, for example, into handball training with children aged 8–10.
